Frequently asked questions

Booking a tour

Do I need to book in advance?

  • Yes, all of our reservations are made online, in advance.

Do you provide bicycles?

  • Yes, our partners at the London Bicycle Cafe have made their rental fleet available to us. We use the non-electric Tern Link model, a fully adjustable city touring bicycle with seven gears and a small basket for your belongings.

What’s included in the tour?

  • Our tours are all-inclusive (bicycle, helmet, local tour guide).

Do you have electric bicycles?

  • Not at this time. However, the terrain is flat, the rental bicycles have seven gears, and we will be riding at a relaxed pace.

Do your bicycles have a weight limit?

  • Yes. 230 pounds (104 kg)

What is your height range?

  • Our bicycles are fully adjustable: 4’10’’ to 6’5” (147 to 195 cm)

Can I bring my kids?

  • At this time, our minimum age limit is 16 years.

Can I fill out the liability waiver now to save time?

  • Absolutely. And we recommend you do. Follow the link in your confirmation email after booking. By tidying up all your paperwork now, we can depart on time.

Refund, cancellation, and weather policy

What is your cancellation policy?

  • If you cancel more than 24 hours ahead of your tour, we will give you a full refund; otherwise, we will consider you committed to the tour.

What if it rains?

  • We run tours rain or shine unless it’s very inclement weather, such as lightning or high winds. In the case of extreme weather, we are happy to issue a refund.

What if I’m running late?

  • Call or text us. Unfortunately, once our tours depart, we are unable to accommodate late arrivals. Please leave yourself enough “prep time” and “wiggle room” so you can arrive 15-30 minutes early and we can all get off to a relaxing start.

Preparation for the tour

Where do we meet?

  • Our tour begins and ends at the London Bicycle Cafe, 320 Thames Street, Unit 101.

What time should I show up for my tour?

  • We recommend arriving 15-30 minutes in advance to do the bicycle/helmet fitting, sign the required documents (if you haven’t already), and get to know your guide and other tour participants.

Is there parking available nearby?

  • Parking can be found at Municipal Parking Lots #11 or #17 on Thames Street, just to the north of the London Bicycle Cafe. However, due to construction this summer, you may have to park further away, such as in Municipal Parking Lot #12, just south of Bathurst Street (see the Google Map in the footer), or else come by bus/taxi. Leave yourself a few extra minutes for unexpected delays.

What should I bring?

  • Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Bring your phone/camera and a positive attitude. Don’t forget the sunscreen! And if you have one, bring along a reusable water bottle.

Questions about the ride itself

Do I have to wear a helmet?

  • Yes, for insurance purposes, we require that you wear a helmet, which we will provide.

How many people will be on our tour?

  • We run the tours in small groups of 2 to a maximum of 10 guests, averaging 5-7 per tour.

How easy/hard is the tour?

  • Our tours are for leisure visitors who want to experience places (not just cycle through them quickly). We will bike at a leisurely and relaxed pace that is comfortable for all.

How fit do I have to be to participate in a tour?

  • Tours are geared to the slowest rider, so no one gets left behind. Participants should have some cardiovascular stamina and be able to exercise a moderate amount. If you are concerned about your ability to participate, please contact us before booking. All of our tours are considered beginner level.

Is bicycling in London safe?

  • London is an extremely bike-friendly city. Our tour guides take advantage of the city’s expanding network of bicycle paths and dedicated lanes to guide you through the city with ease so that you can enjoy the views. When not on cycle paths, we will be riding on quiet side streets. For the occasional busy street crossing, we cross at traffic lights or otherwise cross in a safe manner. As well, we start all our tours with a safety briefing and proper fitting for your bike and safety helmet.

Are there any hills on the route?

  • London is a relatively flat city, so most of the ride will be on flat paths. There are a few inclines, but they are manageable. We always say there is no hill that we can’t walk up!

Will there be bathroom breaks?

  • Yes! Our tours are designed to include stops at restroom facilities and snack breaks.

What if I have mechanical difficulties?

  • The chance of having mechanical difficulties is very low since we maintain our bikes on a very regular basis. Your tour guide can fix most mechanical issues, and if it can’t be fixed on the spot, a replacement bike will be delivered – another great benefit of our relationship with the London Bicycle Cafe.
